Following the publication of ‘List of Bahir Dar University Courses Offered.‘ The Authority of Bahir Dar University has publicized the Entry Requirement AKA Admission Requirement for prospective candidates that seek admission into the institution for the 2015 academic year.

These requirements are for various programmes offered at the institution, it serves as a guide in the application process. All interested applicants are to read through carefully making sure that they fulfil the requirements before putting in an application.

Bahir Dar University Admission Requirements

Admission to the regular undergraduate degree programs of BDU may be granted by the University to a candidate who fulfills the requirements specified under any one or more of the following six eligibility categories:

– Admission of Preparatory Education Completes
Applicants who have successfully completed their preparatory education and passed the University Entrance Examination.
– Admission of Students with Foreign Examination Results
Students with General Certificate of Education;
Cambridge Overseas Examination;
West African School Certificate;
The Oxford Examination or other examinations of equivalent standard assessed by Recruitment and Admission Committee (RAC),
And who passed the University Entrance Examination.
– Admission to the Continuing and Distance Education Programs
Admission to all undergraduate programs of the Faculty of the Continuing and Distance Education (Continuing Education, Distance Education and Summer In-Service Program) is processed by the respective colleges/faculties and is granted by RAC.
– Continuing Education Program

Eligible applicants to the Continuing Education Program of HU may fall in to any one of the following four categories.

A) Preparatory Education Completes
  1. Applicants who have successfully completed ten-plus-two/three (10 + 2/3) preparatory school education, pass the COC exam and has two years related work experience.
  2. Pass the University Entrance Examination.
  3. Sign an agreement to pay tuition and related fees to the University.
B) Upgrading Applicants
  1. Applicants who have ESLCE result of 2.00 and above,
  2. Applicants with a diploma and a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 upon graduation from an accredited higher learning institution of similar program.
  3. Sign an agreement to pay tuition and related fees to the University.
– Summer In-Service Program
Eligible applicants to the Summer In-Service Program of HU may fall in to any one of the following four categories.
A) Preparatory Education Completes
  1. Applicants who have successfully completed ten-plus-two/three (10 + 2/3) preparatory school education, pass the COC exam and has two years related work experience
  2. Pass the University Entrance Examination, and
  3. Sign an agreement to pay tuition and related fees to the University.
B) Upgrading Applicants<>

  2. Passed the University Entrance Examination, and
  3. Sign an agreement to pay tuition and related fees to the University.
B) Upgrading Applicants
  1. Applicants who have ESLCE result of 2.00 and above,
  2. Applicants with diploma (10 + 2 or 10 + 3) and a cumulative grade point average (CGPA) of 2.00 upon graduation from an accredited higher learning institution of similar program.
  3. Sign an agreement to pay tuition and related fees to the University.
