Introduction
The Malawi-Liverpool-Wellcome (MLW} Programme (http://www.mlw.medcol.mw) is an internationally recognised centre for research and research training, funded by the Wellcome Trust in collaboration with the University of Malawi, College of Medicine (COM). MLW would like to engage the services of a competent and dynamic individual to work in the SCALE Project at the MLW Research facility.
TB Laboratory Assistant – 1 post, based in Blantyre, initial one year contract with potential for extension.
Job Summary
To carry out laboratory tests appropriate to particular studies, as designated by the Principal Investigator. Preparation of specimens for testing and storage, documentation and record keeping.
Duties will include, but not be limited to:
- Carrying out laboratory tests in accordance with research protocols
- Developing of lab SOPs as per study protocol Quality control
- Entering of data (electronically) in the research lab
- Ensuring that laboratory equipment is functioning properly
Qualifications and Experience:
- Certificate in Medical Laboratory Technology or should be competent in microscopy
- At least 1 to 2 years’ experience working in a Medical I Research Laboratory
