Amref Health Africa is an Africa based international health development organization headquartered in Nairobi, Kenya. Founded in 1957 as the Flying Doctors to bring critical health services to remote communities, Amref Health Africa envisions to bringing lasting health change for Africa in more than 30 countries across the continent. With a focus on women and children, the organization strives to overcome the most critical health challenges facing the continent: maternal and child health, HIV & TB, malaria, water and sanitation and health systems strengthening. Amref Health Africa has been working in Ethiopia since 2002 in close collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Health implementing a range of projects in maternal, neonatal and child health, reproductive health; health systems strengthening and water and sanitation across the country, supported by a wide range of multilateral and bilateral donors, corporates and foundations.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES FOR INTERNAL/EXTERNAL APPLICANTS

Amref Health Africa would like to recruit Project Assistant for GAVI Project based in Afar and reports to Project officer.

Purpose of the Job: 
Assisting the efficient and effective implementation of the Project

Key Responsibilities:

  • Preparing implementation of work plan
  • Make sure the plan is in line with the project plan of the project officer and program manager by summiting for approval
  • Reviewing the implementation work plan on timely and regular bases.
  • Performing needs assessment (from the project beneficiaries)
  • Collecting required information from the partners
  • Ensuring the availability of resources to timely implement the activities
  • Set up budget accordingly the current prices.
  • Carry out necessary discussion to facilitate the implementation with stakeholders and partners
  • Conduct need assessment in implementation area  and provide response based on the gap
  • Identifying and selecting target beneficiaries in collaboration with partners
  • Develop and adopt report format
  • Collecting and compiling periodic reports
  • Organizing and facilitating trainings for the target group
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly review meeting with stakeholders
  • Conducting site supportive  supervision in collaboration with sub city health office
  • Undertakes other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor

Job Requirements

  • Diploma in public nursing or clinical nurse with related in service tannings
  • Experience of 3 years related area
  • Good believe in team spirit and organizational rule and regulation
  • Familiarity with the government health system
  • NGO experience  is an advantage
  • Good interpersonal  skills
  • Communication & writing skills in both Amharic and English
  • Knowledge of local language Afari is advantageous
  • Excellent computer skills: Ms Windows, Ms Word and Excel,
  • In addition the ideal candidate must have strong analytical, problem solving and networking skills.
  • Be a team player and communicator and work under minimal supervision.
  • Has experience in pastoralist community and interest to work in hard areas to reach pastoralist community.

Terms of employment: one year

Duty Station:  Afar
Required number:  4 ( 1 for Elidar, Dubti, Telalak, and Dewe districts each)
