Job Description

Vendor Management /Asset Management /Purchasing

  • Identify appropriate Technology vendors
  • Build relationships with vendors
  • Negotiate competitive rates
  • Track assets issued to employees \ vendors and the operational status of the equipment including damage \ theft and disposal
  • Dispose of assets properly and securely
  • Track asset warranty status and make sure faulty equipment is repaired within warranty periods
  • Make sure that purchases and logistical processes are completed as per company process.

Project Implementation / Research

  • Participate in projects as per the directions of Line manager
  • To follow project management guidelines
  • Keep updates with emerging technology trends.
  • Ensure solutions are aligned to technology standards and follow project management guidelines.
  • Research and identify new technologies that may benefit the organization.

Operational Effectiveness

  • Follow organization and department standards.
  • Check and maintain regular backups and disaster recovery Procedures
  • Adequate information is collected prior to escalation to aid higher level technical support in resolving the problem.
  • Automate necessary processes.
  • Document resolution steps to provide historical information that other team members can reference.
  • Ensuring licensing for all software purchased is recorded and maintained.
  • Maintain the cleanliness, order, quality and efficiency of the I.T. assets.
  • Make sure no unauthorized and unlicensed software is used within the whole of Moby Group
  • Complete all re-occurring and scheduled tasks on time.
  • Maintain and update Antivirus / Anti Spyware / Anti adware software for all systems.
  • Maintain Desktop and servers SOE as per guidelines.
  • Maintain backup tapes and logs as per process

Systems / Reporting / Documentation

  • Regularly report on asset and inventory status
  • Provide regular updates to reporting Manager about the
  • Status of projects or System and the overall functioning of the department (Monthly/year)
  • Reporting on overall system status across the Moby Group
  • Adhere to documentation standards
  • Maintains documentation for:

o   Hardware inventory;

o   Software licensing and compliance;

o   System Usernames/passwords;

o   System and Data Backup Jobs Documentation

Support Services / Technical Assistance

  • Improve user support experience.
  • Contribute to team effort by providing technical support in accomplishing required results as needed.
  • Possess and maintain adequate system administration Knowledge: maintenance, and troubleshooting – Windows, VMware, Network, PCs and notebooks.
  • Execute and follow IT Helpdesk operational policies, standards and work instructions for customer support.
  • Perform patch management as per company guidelines
  • Perform Daily and monitor Daily Backups
  • Handle all organizational first and second level technical support. Meet company user support SLA’s
  • Active directory administration and Backup
  • Exchange mailbox maintenance and archiving

Job Requirements

  •  A bachelor’s degree and any one or more of the following certifications is preferred

o  Microsoft:

o  CompTIA A+

o  MCTS (Microsoft Certified Technology Specialist)

o  MCSE (Microsoft Certified Systems Engineer)

o  MTA (Microsoft Technology Associate)

o  Cisco:

o  CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

  • 3+ Years of experience in working with Windows servers/Desktop, Mac and Windows Back office products like MS Exchange. Working Knowledge of VMware and Linux is desirable.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Office based, sitting mostly in front of a computer/server screen. May be required to work overtime if the system needs immediate work and adjustments or to hit project goals. May also need to be on call during evenings and weekends for system support. Lifting of heavy equipment (servers etc. into racks) may be necessary.
