In Ethiopia, CRS has a long and rich history of providing emergency relief and development assistance to the people of Ethiopia since 1958. At present, CRS/Ethiopia implements multiple projects through different partner organizations.  CRS/Ethiopia has a highly diverse portfolio ranging from very large food-supported emergency response to cutting edge development programs. The current CRS/Ethiopia budget stands at $100 million with funding from the U.S. Government, UN agencies, private foundations, individual donors, and CRS private funds.

Job Summary:

As a lead for partner support in the JEOP project team, you will facilitate the achievement of project objectives through coordinating and reporting on all partner support activities and providing technical guidance and advice to staff and implementing partners advancing Catholic Relief Services’ (CRS) work serving the poor and vulnerable. Your coordination and relationship management skills will ensure that the project applies best practices and constantly works towards improving the impact of its benefits to those we serve.

 

Job Responsibilities:

  • Organize and lead the implementation of all assigned project partner support activities as outlined in the detailed implementation plan in line with CRS program quality principles and standards, donor requirements, and good practices.
  • Support and coordinate capacity building and technical support activities to ensure partner support activities are implemented per project guidelines and partnership standards. Collect and disseminate JEOP related information and resources to CRS staff and partners and assist with training needs assessments, and design and facilitation of training workshops to support capacity building efforts.
  • Support the development of project documents and tools, as well as technical manuals or guidance, training materials, presentation, and quality improvement and assessment guidelines targeted to strengthen overall capacity of local partners.
  • Identify new approaches and methods for promoting partner learning using ICT4D solutions as appropriate. Contribute to the learning agenda by researching and analyzing information, conducting literature reviews, mappings or information gathering from various internal and external sources on assigned topics. Coordinate maintenance of documentation databases.
  • Support accountability through coordinating project evaluation activities and guiding partners in their efforts to reflect on project experiences. Analyze implementation challenges and report any inconsistencies and/or gaps to inform adjustments to plans and implementation schedules.
  • Ensure proper tracking of resource use for partner support activities through periodic budget reviews and follow-up with and assistance to implementing partner. Coordinate provision of any logistical and administrative support to staff and partners.
  • Ensure project documentation for assigned activities is complete with all required documents and is filed per agency and donor requirements. Assist with preparation of trends analysis reports and documentation of case studies and promising practices.

Job Requirements

Typical Background, Experience & Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Completion 2nd Degree (Social or Natural Science) or 1st Degree (Social or Natural Science).
  • 2 years for 2nd Degree or 5 years for 1st Degree ideally in the field of Food Security or Relationship Management, and with an NGO.
  • Experience with partnership activities and institutional strengthening, preferably within non-governmental agencies.
  • Experience working with partners, participatory action planning and community engagement.
  • Experience monitoring projects and collecting relevant data.
  • Strong report writing skills.
  • General knowledge of technical principles and concepts in food security and commodity management.
  • Knowledge of USAID regulations relating to food commodity management, fraud allegation management, compliance and related subjects as applicable.
  • Familiarity preferred with the Sphere Humanitarian Charter and Minimum Standards, NGO Code of Conduct, Do No Harm, and prevention against sexual exploitation and abuse.
  • Proficiency in MS Office packages (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), and knowledge-sharing networks.
