Cooperazione Internazionale (COOPI) is an international Italian NGO established in 1965. Since then COOPI has been undertaking activities to help and empower the poor and needy in different countries. COOPI Ethiopia started its operation in 1995 and its activities include water resources development, Food Security, Human and Veterinary Health, Education, Hygiene and Sanitation Promotion and Awareness and Capacity Building.

COOPI is currently leading a NGO consortium that is implementing a 15 month project  entitled “Mitigating primary causes of illegal migration in Oromia Region” financed by Italian Development Cooperation. COOPI is looking to hire a project coordinator who will play a key role in managing and leading the project team as well as coordination with consortium partners.

Tasks and responsibilities

• Managing and leading the project team.
• Recruiting project staff and service providers as agreed with the coordination offices.
• Developing and maintaining a detailed project activity and financial plan on monthly
• and quarterly basis together with the project sectoral leads and technical staff.
• Managing project deliverables in line with the project plan.
• Recording and managing project issues and sharing with the organization management team.
• Prepare project reports (monthly, quarterly, annual, etc) and related technical reports and annexes to the stakeholders.
• Managing project activities within the defined budget and deadlines.
• Liaises with, and updates progress to, project COOPI coordination office program and administration team.
• Works closely the consortium and with local stakeholders and project partner organization offices at field level to ensure the project meets its objectives.
• Represents the Organization in respect of project activities and liaises with the Project Partners.
• Other duties as assigned.

KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

• Advanced university degree in relevant field
• At least 5 years professional experience in project management with focus on livelihoods, community/rural development projects,
• Experience with cooperatives is highly preferred;
• Experience facilitating relationships between Nongovernmental organization and government;
• Ability to work well within a team and take responsibility to deliver results.
• Excellent interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
• Ability and willingness to live and work in harsh and difficult physical conditions in an area of potential insecurity.
• Knowledge of working area will be preferable
• Have a sound understanding of EU, AICS Donor procedures.
• Respect culture, believe of diverse ethnic and traditional set up
• Knowledge of Italian language is an advantage
