The Authority of Daeyang College of Nursing has publicized the Entry Requirement AKA Admission Requirement for prospective candidates that seek admission into the institution for the 2021/2022 academic year.

These requirements are for various programmes offered at the institution, it serves as a guide in the application process. All interested applicants are to read through carefully making sure that they fulfil the requirements before putting in an application.

PROGRAMMES, ENTRY REQUIREMENTS AND DURATION

PROGRAMMES ENTRY REQUIREMENTS DURATION
Bachelor of Science (Nursing and Midwifery) Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent obtained not earlier than 2016 with:• At least six credits which should include English, Physical Science, Biology and Mathematics and any other two subjects

• An aggregate of not more than 30 points in the best six subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings;

• Candidates should be aged between 16-45 years at the time of application.

• Female candidates are encouraged to apply.

4 years
Bachelor of Science in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent obtained not earlier than 2016 with:•  At least six credits which should include English, Mathematics and any other two science-related subjects

•  An aggregate of not more than 30 points in the best six subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings.

4 years
Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) to be offered through a memorandum of understanding with the  College of Medicine of the  University of Malawi Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent obtained not earlier than 2016 with:•  at least six credits which should include  English and Mathematics plus a minimum of 4 points in Biology and Physical Science.

• an aggregate of not more than30 points in the best six subjects obtained in not more than 2 sittings;

• Should not be a registered student at the University of Malawi.

1 year foundation courses 5 years MBBS
Interpretation of IGCSE Grades:The following is the interpretation of IGCSE results for admission purposes: A*= 1; A = 2; B = 3; C = 5; D = 7; EFG = 8.

Note:

•  Candidates who failed to satisfy the admission criteria above in 2014 or 2015 but successfully improved their grades after re-sitting a maximum of four subjects in 2015 or 2016 may use their supplementary statements for purposes of accumulating credits.

•  Candidates cannot combine grades from two independent certificates, i.e. candidates were awarded a full certificate in 2014 or 2015 and re-attempted MSCE in 2016 and obtained another full certificate cannot combine grades from the two independent certificates for purposes of accumulating credits.
