The objective of the Better Migration Management (BMM) program is to improve the migration management in the Eastern African region in response to the needs identified by the African countries of the Khartoum Process, and in particular to address the trafficking of human beings and the smuggling of migrants within and from the Horn of Africa. The BMM program has four components, all of which are in the midst of implementation in Ethiopia and Djibouti collectively:

The Better Migration Management (BMM) project aims to respond to an overall objective to improve migration management in the region, and in particular to curb the trafficking of human beings and the smuggling of migrants within, though and from the Horn of Africa. The BMM project is implemented by the Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammenarbeit (GIZ) GmbH in partnership with European and International agencies.
The BMM project is an example of cooperation between the European Commission and the German Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). To facilitate the implementation of the BMM project, GIZ is recruiting one Program Intern to be based in Addis Ababa under the technical supervision of the BMM Senior Migration Officer (SMO).

Duration: 3-Month with possibility extension to 6-Month
Responsibilities:
The BMM Program Intern is responsible for:
Assist implementing certain operational aspects of all issues related to the BMM project in Ethiopia and Djibouti;
Assisting in maintaining of a good flow of communication and information between all involved agencies, institutions and counterparts and GIZ;
§ Filing documents in reference files or in DMS in line with GIZ’s filing rules; and
§ Assisting the Regional Coordinator (RC) and SMO and other program staff in their administrative and support tasks, as directed.
The BMM Program Intern performs the following tasks:
A. Tasks
1. Project office work and services
The BMM Program Assistant:
Organises and coordinates appointments for the RC and SMO or other BMM Program staff, as directed;
Manage incoming and outgoing correspondences
Assist in preparing and organising information materials for Program staff, workshops, trainings and/or for meetings;
Helps organise and document events, trainings meetings, workshops, and seminars;
Helps prepare visitor programs and travel schedules with other BMM staff;
Photocopies and scans documents as needed; and
Conducts research, as directed.
2. Administration and knowledge management
The BMM Program Intern
Creates an address file with important contact addresses and maintains this file;
Helps create and maintain a filing system for the project, treats information confidentially; and
Updates the filing system daily with incoming and outgoing correspondence.
3. Other duties/additional tasks
The BMM Program Intern
Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management.

Qualifications
University Degree in Law or any Social Science field.
Professional experience
Fresh Graduate
Other knowledge, additional competences
Working knowledge of ITC technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g. MS Office);
Good working knowledge of English
Willingness to upskill as required by the tasks to be performed – corresponding measures are agreed with management
