The internship will be working within the Security Risk Management Office at the German Development Cooperation Office in Kazanchis, which has responsibility for ensuring the safety and security of all GIZ personal (approx. 750 employees) working all over the country in 21 various offices.

Position INTERNSHIP FOR THE SECURITY RISK MANAGEMENT OFFICE

Place of Work: Addis Ababa

Remuneration: as per the GIZ scale

Application deadline: August 10, 2018

Duration: 3-Month with possibility extension to 6-Month

Responsibilities:

The objective of the internship is to acquire vocational know-how, skills and experience. Interns should receive guidance on the specific remit of security risk management within an international development organisation and how this fits into the context of GIZ as a whole.

The Intern will be expected to:

· gain an insight into the day-to-day work of the organisational unit to which they are assigned

· take part in discussions and meetings;

· become familiar with the administrative regulations and rules of a collaborative organisation;

· deal with issues related to the organisational unit’s specific tasks and – as far as possible – resolve them autonomously with direction and support from a mentor.

Individual Tasks

· Will assist with the general administration and day to day tasks in the Security Risk Management Office for GIZ Ethiopia office

· Assist with strategic planning around programmatic activity and crisis planning

· Assist with incident and conflict mapping that impacts upon programmatic implementation and operational activity.

· Organise and assist with safety and security related trainings as part of GIZ’s duty of care.

· Update and review GIZ Security Risk Management communication materials include Staff Security Handbook, GIZ Emergency Card and GIZ Visitors Leaflets and Flyers.

· Liaise with other organisations and institutions regarding safety and security issues

Job Requirements

Required Entry Qualifications, Competences, and Experience

· Excellent English oral and writing skills.

· Experience in report writing in English is essential.

· College or University Degree in relevant field or security studied plus strong skills in political analysis

· German language skills would be desired but not essential.
