GOAL has been working in Ethiopia since 1984 implementing a range of multi-sectoral development, resiliency and humanitarian responses. GOAL Ethiopia is currently working with street children, pastoralists and rural small holders and responds to humanitarian crises in Ethiopia by working closely with local communities, local government and other key actors with a strong emphasis on resiliency, preparedness and longer term impacts. GOAL Ethiopia’s major funders are USAID, ECHO, BPRM, Irish Aid and UNOCHA.

ABOUT THE ROLE

GOAL Ethiopia is looking for a competent, motivated, experienced Liaison Officer to be a part of GOAL’s dynamic team. You will provide support to the Afar Region project by representing GOAL Ethiopia in liaising with regional authorities or other relevant actors in Afar Region in health and nutrition, DRM and other relevant sectors. Liaison Officer will be responsible to assist in translations, formulations of letters, interpretation… if needed, provides contextual overview report of operational areas to the country programme , conducts a site visit in GOAL operational woreda’s and technically support the nutrition team, Compile reports which is collected from the intervention woreda’s and send to HO in monthly bases.

ABOUT YOU

You’ll be an experienced Liaison Officer who will be responsible for Liaises between the Emergency Nutrition project and the regional authorities, and other partners and counterparts in close collaboration with the Nutrition team. You will ensures quality program implementation across all operational woreda’s in the region and take corrective measures accordingly.

You will attend coordination meetings by representing GOAL Ethiopia (i.e. Regional level, Health and Nutrition Cluster, Wash Cluster, Task Force, etc.) and will support Health and nutrition team in the Afar Region in setting up specific programs when needed.

·         Masters/BSC/BA in PH, Nursing, Management and developmental studies with a minimum of 5 years’ experience in humanitarian aid.

Desirable qualities, Skills and Competences: (list of qualities that are considered desirable for the specific post):

·         Good understanding of the functioning of the different Government bodies and NGO community.

·         Excellent command of English language essential,

·         Knowledge of local language, Afarigna is a must.

·         Essential Computer Literacy (word, excel, power point)

·         Excellent communication skills, both written and spoken

·         Excellent negotiation skills and extensive negotiation experience

·         High level of knowledge and respectful sensitivity to different cultures and customs

·         Capability to work independently

Remuneration & Benefits:

Salary: Birr 18,587.00/month

Pension – 11% from employer and 7% from employee

Transportation Allowance – 10% of monthly salary

Hardship Allowance, 30% of a monthly salary
