I-TECH Malawi Recruitment 2018
I-TECH Malawi has been privileged to provide technical support to the Government of Malawi Ministry of Health (MoH), since 2008, through seconded senior Technical Assistants, Programme Officers and Public Health Fellows. The International Training and Education Center for Health (I-TECH) was established in 2002 at the University of Washington in Seattle. I-TECH is funded by the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s Division of Global HIV and TB (CDC-DGHT) under the US President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR).
I-TECH is implementing a recent HIV infection surveillance project through inclusion of a test for recent infection (TRI) in routine HIV testing services at entry points to monitor epidemiology of recent HIV infections.
Recency results will aid in the identification of individuals who have acquired HIV within the past several months and may be at higher risk of transmitting HIV. This surveillance work can be used to inform HIV programming and improve targeting of prevention activities to sub‐ populations and locations where high levels of transmission may be occurring.

Finance Assistant
Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Finance Officer, the Finance Assistant – provides support in a wide range of tasks include the banking, payment voucher preparation, accounts payable and vendor invoice management, petty cash management and trucking withholding tax among other tasks to ensures compliance with relevant rules and regulations of Malawi government, United States Government (USG) partners, including CDC-GAP, DOD and HRSA, and the University of Washington.
Key Responsibilities
- Basic review of financial documents (invoices, receipts, delivery notes, purchase orders, contracts, purchase request, correct approval and authorization) and ensure that it’s complete as per I-TECH policy.
- Keep updates on procurement records for timely payment processing
- Generate open vendor invoice (status) report for review by finance manager
- Raise payment requests for transactions with complete and adequate documentation
- Maintain issued cheque register for all cheques issued
- Maintain filing system by vendor’s name
- Follow up on vendor’s receipts
- Keep truck of Value Added Tax (VAT) for Tax refunds
- Withhold and keep truck of withholding tax (WHT)
- Report any irregularities to the Finance Manager
Qualifications:
- Diploma in Accountancy, Business Studies or any other related discipline
- Three years’ experience
- Previous experience with organization finances.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook and web browser
- Knowledge of QuickBooks Enterprise or similar accounting software preferred
- Ability to work in a team-based structure
- Proficient in English.
