International Organization for Migration Jobs Vacancies 2018

Under the general supervision of the EPC Shelter/NFI Programme Manager and the direct supervision of the Shelter/NFI Field Team Leader, the successful candidate shall be responsible to coordinate and monitor duties related to the organization’s Emergency Shelter/NFI activities. In particular s/he will be responsible for the following:

Responsibilities and Accountabilities:

  1. Coordinate with the Government of Ethiopia’s National Disaster Risk Management Commission (NDRMC) and the Administration for Refugee and Returnee Affairs as appropriate to the humanitarian context for internally displaced and refugee communities
  2. Lead the Shelter/NFI operations by liaising with Procurement, Finance, HR, and Logistics units of IOM Addis Ababa and field to monitor if requests from the field operations are met in the required timelines.
  3. Coordinate in assessments of disaster affected communities, including IDP settlements, seasonal assessments, joint rapid assessments and intention surveys in the region with the government and humanitarian partners.
  4. Coordinate on sub-office updates on emerging humanitarian issues and gaps relating to Shelter/NFI areas of intervention.
  5. In coordination with the Head of Sub-Office, liaise with project partners for timely implementation, coordinated activities and efficient use of resources and logistics.
  6. Provide weekly updates on field Shelter/NFI activities and monthly indicator report to EPC Unit in Addis Ababa, and implement feedback provided by Shelter/NFI staff on the weekly situation and monthly progress reports.
  7. Liaise with partner organizations and relevant Regional State authorities to coordinate harmonious implementation of Shelter/NFI activities in the region.
  8. Participate in relevant forums including bi-weekly Shelter/NFI Cluster meeting and participate in any other relevant regional and zonal coordination meetings.
  9. Participate in development and delivery of trainings for Shelter/NFI Unit to enhance sub-office performance standards and service delivery to our beneficiaries.
  10. Draft and submit monthly and weekly reports.
  11. Comply with UNDSS security protocol and internal IOM procedures.
  12. Perform such other duties as may be assigned

Job Requirements

Educational Qualification:

  • University degree in Social Sciences, Business Administration or related field of study or a combination of training and relevant working experience is a minimum requirement.

Experience:

  • Seven years of work experience related to disaster response and transition and recovery programs with humanitarian agencies.
  • Practical experience and detailed knowledge of the disaster risk management, with emphasis on disaster response and recovery programs is essential.
  • Thorough knowledge of data protection issues in emergency operation and utilization of Microsoft Office application including databases is required.
  • Ability to adapt knowledge and expertise to specific project or activities; ability to work with colleagues from different cultural and professional backgrounds; flexibility to perform and deliver in difficult and rapidly changing situations is essential.
  • Strong writing and reporting skills.
  • Proven experience in record keeping, reporting and project implementation.
  • Ability to develop project strategies and activities based on identified needs.
  • Ability to build relations with local government authorities, civil society, beneficiaries and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently according to established structures and guidelines, including administrative requirements, and maintain coordination with colleagues and supervisor.
  • Familiarity with the International Organization, UN agency or diplomatic mission an asset.
