Under the direct supervision of Environmental health manager, the Water Technician Officer will be responsible for installation of water supply system Electro-mechanical parts and ensuring proper operation and maintenance of the water supply system including submersible pumps, generators, and switch boards installed towards supply of safe and adequate water to the camp population.
Detail Responsibilities and Tasks:
· Serve as main technical focal point for activities related to troubleshooting, operation and maintenance of
Electro-mechanical parts (pumps, generators, control system, etc.) of water supply systems of Heloweyn refugee camps and host community.
· Identify gaps and plan for onsite training to build the capacity of the Assistant water Technician Officers, plumbers and operators in Heloweyn refugee Camps in consultation with the EH Manager and Water Technician Manager.
· Ensures that all generators, pumps, fittings at production and distribution. Systems, tap stands, water storage tanks have enough back up easily moving parts.
· Prepare detail specification including item description, part number and quantity of spare parts necessary to fix identified problems on electro-mechanical parts (pumps, generator set , control panels, etc) of water supply schemes.
· Identify and ensure the procurement of tools and equipment’s required towards operation and maintenance of the water supply systems including generators, pumps and control panel for pumps.
· Prepare and put in place monitoring plan for the operation and servicing of the generators and pumps.
· Keep record of fuel consumption, generators working hours and electro mechanical equipments performance indicators during the operation and maintenance phase and report to the EH Manager and Water Technician Manager.
· Organize and deliver trainings on operation and maintenance of electro-mechanical parts to operators, plumbers and Assistant Water Technician Officers.
· Provide the necessary technical support to WMCs, operators, plumbers, and Technicians in operation and maintenance of their water supply schemes.
· Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and keep the supervisor informed of the maintenance and installation of electro-mechanical parts.
· Visit the generators and pump on daily basis and provide guidance and advice for the operators and maintenance team.
· Install generators and pumps in the water supply systems.
· Assist the EH Manager in project proposal development and quarter and annual reporting regarding to electro-mechanical operation activities.
Job Requirements
Skills and Qualifications
· Diploma or Degree level qualifications in Electricity, Auto mechanics or other relevant fields.
· Minimum 6 years work experiences for Diploma or 4 years experiences for BSc Degree on similar Job Positions.
· Excellent experience in surface and submersible pump operation and maintenance.
· Good written and spoken skill in English.
· Computer literate in word and excel.
· Good interpersonal skill.
