The Analyst is responsible for ensuring that project supported software responds to client business needs, that systems are fully functional, and that users are able to use the systems as they are designed. The Analyst serves as an interface between clients and project programmers. They work closely with clients to understand in detail their business process and with programmers to ensure software solutions are fit for purpose.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

Specific responsibilities will include, but not be limited to, the following:

• Lead the implementation of project software
• Design, test and document programs that meet user requirements.
• Evaluate user requests and modify existing or create new reports.
• Work with users to understand business processes and needs.
• Write flowcharts, diagrams and logical steps for coding to be processed by developer team.
• Install, test and monitor programs and performances.
• Analyze, review, and alter programs to increase operational efficiency and to adapt to new requirements.
• Develops and implements comprehensive test plans to ensure that systems and programs are tested and debugged.
• Plans, develops and implements backup and recovery procedures.
• Develop training materials, and provide both formal training and OJT and mentoring to users on system usage
• Determines proper installation parameters for software and hardware, for smooth integration, transition and efficiency.
• Analyzes, detects, identifies and corrects technical problems and deficiencies.
• Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports.
• Develop and implement data collection systems and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and data quality.
• Acquire data from primary or secondary sources and maintain databases/data systems.
• Filter and “clean” data, and review system reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
• Work closely with management and Senior System Analyst to prioritize business and information needs.
• Locate and define new process improvement opportunities.
• Provide support to Hub and Center IT staff for PFSA user support.
•  Give update for end users or Hub ITs when there is a new feature released or there is an update by communicating directly to them.
• Prepare instruction manuals and documentation for the new features or systems upgrades.
• Regularly meet with programmers and support team to discuss progress and issues to be resolved, and report progress on a timely basis to the Product Manager/MIS Manager
• Work with the Network Administrator to create a reliable network for smooth system operations
• Contributes to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant discipline (IT, information systems, business etc.) preferred
• Significant experience working on the HCMIS system required.
• Previous work experience with John Snow, Inc., desirable

Skills:

• Understands the software development process generally, and specifically at JSI
• Deep knowledge of customers business process (PFSA, health facilities, others)
• Proven ability to manage development and implementation of project activities.
• Strong representational and interpersonal skills.
• Excellent written and verbal English; proficiency in Amharic
• Ability to prepare and present technical information to partners.
• Proficiency in common computer packages (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Excel) relevant to the work.
• Team player.
• Able to travel up to 40% in country to support technical activities.
