Mary’s Meals Malawi is delighted to be recruiting for a talented Head of HR & People Development to join our Senior Management Team. An innovative HR Leader with exceptional leadership skills, you will have overall responsibility for HR and organisational development. Mary’s Meals Malawi is our largest school feeding programme and reaches over 30% of the primary school aged children, in Malawi, and we work closely with schools and community volunteers who help prepare and serve the nutritious meals every school day.

Mary’s Meals is a global movement supported by people from all walks of life and we are focused on one goal – that every child receives a nutritious daily meal in a place of education. We continue to change the lives of over 1.4 million children who today will receive a Mary’s Meals.

Reporting to our Country Director, Malawi, you will lead a small team and will work in close collaboration with the People Leadership Team at Mary’s Meals International to drive the implementation of the Global People Strategy in Malawi. You will bring robust experience of generalist HR, learning & development, workforce planning, recruitment, talent management, employee engagement and will have demonstrable experience of developing your people to reach their potential.

Other key areas of responsibility include:

  • Developing our existing HR strategy and managing change projects and programmes
  • Influencing at a strategic level and building relationships and partnerships with stakeholders including managers, employees and external partners
  • Driving and implementing key strategic priorities within agreed timelines.
  • Ensuring all policies and procedures are updated in line with employment law changes.

A fantastic communicator, you will be degree qualified or equivalent, with experience of influencing at a strategic level. CIPD membership would be beneficial but not essential. With a restless approach to continuous improvement, you will thrive in a fast-paced, varied environment where no two days are the same. Experience of working with or for a charity would be beneficial but not essential, however, alignment with the values of the organisation and the desire to “give back” is essential.
