Niras Jobs Vacancies 2018

The Finnish Government will provide Technical Assistance (TA) to support the effective implementation of the GEQIP-E, particularly the Equity Result area. The purpose of the Technical support is to assist the MOE in achieving the GEQIP-E goals which are drawn from the Education Sector Development Plan V. Specific objectives of the TA are to strengthen Special Needs Education support systems, to improve capacities of inclusive and equitable education; and to strengthen the evidence base for equitable and inclusive education.

NIRAS, the implementing consultant of the Project, is recruiting motivated and highly committed Accountant/Office Manager.

Overall responsibilities:

  • Carry out day-to-day financial transactions, prepare disbursement plan, accounting of the project funds, reconcile bank and cash registers with accounts database and statements, and prepare financial statements.
  •  Assist Team Leader in preparation of financial reports;
  • Taking care of secretarial and administration duties;
  • Taking care of the property and equipment of the project.

Specific duties and responsibilities:

  • Prepare disbursement plan
  • Preparation of payment vouchers and processing of payments
  • Check payment and receipt vouchers for good accounting practice and proper coding;
  • Maintenance of petty cash and follow up advances and settlements
  • Prepare and make payments for workshop and training participants
  • Follow-up pending invoices to local authorities and other organizations and suppliers and make sure they are paid in time;
  • Ensure that bank and cash registers are up to date
  • Be responsible for preparing the monthly payroll for the project office staff in and paying employment tax and pension to the responsible authorities;
  • Ensure that bank and cash registers are reconciled with the accounts database
  • Responsible for preparation and submission of monthly accounts to the home office;
  • Updating the project office assets registry
  • General secretarial duties including filing, travel & accommodation bookings, meeting arrangements, transport arrangement, report distribution, drafting letters, handling correspondence via e-mail, telephone and letters, purchase of stationeries and other office materials, etc;
  • Any other duties that may be assigned by the Chief Technical Advisor from to time.

Job Requirements

Qualification and Experience

  • Minimum of BA degree in Accounting or Financial Management or a related fields
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience in an international team and experience from Finnish funded projects has an added value
  • Knowledge of Ethiopian laws on immigration, tax and pension, and finance and procurement
  • Fluent in English, both written and oral
  • Excellent computer skills (Word, Power point, Excel, Internet)
