PIN currently invites applicants for the position of:  Sanitation Expert (1#) for specific project called ”Emergency response to the most acute needs of the most vulnerable IDPs in Gedeo Zone, Ethiopia”

Length of Contract: one year

The Sanitation Expert is responsible for effective promotion of safe water, improved sanitation and safer hygiene practices at IDP and hosting communities based on national hygiene promotion standard. S/he will be responsible promotion of proper hygiene and snatiation practices among the IDPs and hosting communities

Main responsibilities:

• Conduct various types of assessment in relation to proper hygiene and sanitation practices response to understanding major risk factors and hazards for water washed and water borne diseases occurrence in IDPs
• Prepare a design for new latrine construction  and prepare BoQ for renovation work of  damaged latrine
• supervise safe disposal of extra from filled latrine
• Collect regular surveillance on water born and water washed diseases status, compile, and analyses, interpret data, and bring to the project team for update and action.
• Establishing and strengthening rapid response team/RRT at each targeted IDPs camp sites / returned places   to enable collect, compile, analyse and interpret surveillance reports for decision making and action.
•  Facilitate hygiene promotion trainings among IDPs camps and hosting communities is provided with standard training manuals.
• Conduct assessment of household sanitation and hygiene conditions through weekly household visits.
• Monitor the household’s WASH situation and any barriers that might arise and provide appropriate advice towards improving the situation.
• Collect beneficiaries primary data from the sources IDPs camps
• Mobilize beneficiaries NFIs for timely arrival for the targeted beneficiaries

o   BSc in Public Health, Social Work, Community Development and other related fields.

o   Relevant training on national hygiene promotion guideline   as well as communicable disease control response, community mobilization, water sanitation and hygiene etc.

o   Experience in Outbreak management, disease surveillance, early warning, preparation of emergency preparedness and response plan.

o   Ability to work with a broad spectrum of people from different cultural backgrounds.

o   Fluent in speaking and writing in the local language (Gedoe and Oromfia )

o   Excellent communication skills.
