ROLE PURPOSE: 

Under the overall coordination, close technical and managerial supervision of the INSPIRE/GAC project Manager and Nutrition coordinator, the jobholder will ensure high quality Hygiene & sanitation, AMIYCN and CMAM implementation within the project. The post holder is expected to provide proper and quality care to all beneficiaries, respecting national protocols, sphere standards and principles of good practice.

The post holder will also responsible for the overall activities planning, implementing, coordinating and technical support at woreda and Kebels level Sanitation, Hygiene, AMIYCN and CMAM Interventions of INSPIRE/GAC Project.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Coordinate and support overall sanitation, hygiene, AMIYCN and CMAM interventions at woreda, kebel and household level.
  •  Provide technical support for government woreda nutrition officers, WASH committee members and health extension workers as well as HDAs
  •  Provide capacity building trainings for WASH committee, HEWs, health workers (HWs) and woreda officer.
  •  Establish or strengthen woreda NNP implementation taskforce and WASH team from the nine NNP signatory sector members to create conducive environment to implement the project.
  •  Follow the implantation of Nutrition Education and AMIYCN counselling at project implementing health facilities.
  •  Organize CLTSH and capacity building trainings for health extension workers, health development armies, Kebel WASH teams and facilitators and ensure its proper implementation;
  •  Provide technical support in hygiene and sanitation promotion program intervention and ensure the implementation of access to improved sanitation (latrines, solid waste, liquid waste and food hygiene activities;
  •  Organize campaigns and regular programs with the aim of promoting the community in the need for preventive services of personal hygiene and sanitation measures;
  •  Organize nutrition market shows and food-cooking demonstrations in his/her assigned project areas.
  • Work closely with CMAM officers and integrate CMAM activities:

o   Mobilize the community, ensure engagement of community leaders / their designates for the organisation of the arrivals outside of the centre

o   Complete order forms for the logistics team of material, medicine and food requirements for each site for the week in advance

o   Work with MoH staff and officials to ensure all aspects of the programme are understood and agreed by MoH and appropriate referrals take place to and from MoH and the OTP/SFP

o   Work closely with the teams to ensure all children are measured correctly

o   Ensure comprehensive health checks and treatment according to the agreed protocols

o   Review the forms completed by staff to ensure completion, accuracy and coherence

o   Ensure adequate availability of all medical and food supplies for each distribution, input in to creation and maintenance of a monthly distribution plan and ensure stock is pre-positioned as planned with Nutrition project coordinator and logistics team

o   Ensure the prompt tracing of children who are absent from the programme

  •  Conduct on job training, joint supportive supervision and review meetings in close collaboration with Woreda Health and Water Offices.
  •  Disseminate IEC/BCC materials on nutrition, sanitation and hygiene and follow proper utilization of materials during hygiene and nutrition promotion and AMIYCN counselling.
  •  Provide Nutrition Sensitive Agriculture (NSA) skills for agricultural extension workers and woreda agriculture officers.
  •  Closely work with CMAM Officer, WASH officers and nutrition coordinator.
  •  Prepare weekly, monthly & quarterly activities plan cascaded from detail implementation plan (DIP)
  •  Build strong and collaborative partnership with woreda and Kebele level NNP technical working group and WASH team.
  •  Provide technical support for CBO staff working in the area
  •  Work closely with technical advisors and other field office staff.
  •  Prepare and disseminate high quality post training and periodic reports on time to his respective supervisor.
  •  Organize on job training session, joint supportive supervision and biannual review meetings with close collaboration with the woreda health and water offices.
  •  Ensure quality of documentation and use of sanitation, hygiene and nutrition data at woreda, health facilities and households.
  •  Provide quality CMAM, sanitation, hygiene and nutrition reports to line manager, nutrition coordinator and MEAL coordinator according to the defined MEAL plan.
  •  Prepare and disseminate high quality post training and periodic reports on time to his respective supervisor
  •  Document case stories, success stories and lesson learned during the implementation and constantly share it to INSPIRE/GAC team.
  •  Provide technical and networking support in relation to integration of child rights and child protection policy (CPP) to staff at all levels.
  •  Be fully aware of how far INSPIRE/GAC project fulfils child rights in terms of SCI’s strategic and thematic plans.
  •  Ensure that Child Rights programming is effectively incorporated into all aspects of the project components.
  • Comply with all relevant Save the Children policies and procedures with respect to child protection, health and safety, security, equal opportunities and other relevant policies.

Job Requirements

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

Essential:  

·         BSC degree/Diploma in Nursing or Public Health, Senior Clinical/Public Nurse Minimum of two years working experience for BSc and four years’ experience for Diploma holders related to CMAM, sanitation, hygiene and nutrition activities

·         CMAM implementations.

·         Experience in working with multicultural team and complex projects

·         Good understanding of National Nutrition program (NNP), Community based management of Acute malnutrition (CMAM) and One WASH National Program (OWNP), Hygiene a Sanitation Guidelines

·         Ability on partnership building and interpersonal communication

·         Knowledge, training and experience in CMAM and community mobilization/BCC, AMIYCN/ENA/IYCF and CLTSH.

·         Demonstrated skills in peer group training, Training of Trainers and development of training materials.

·         Fluency in English, writing and speaking
