SMART Management Services Plc., a holding company in Addis Ababa, is looking to hire a Chief Operations Officer (COO). Description of job position
As a COO at the company, you will be responsible for overseeing daily operations and the work of junior executives as well as reporting directly to the CEO. Your duty will also include devising different strategies to promote the growth of the company including creating and maintaining relationships with partners and vendors. You will also work alongside other chief directors in the different sectors.

Main duties and responsibilities

  • Analyze internal operations and identify areas of process enhancement
  • Develop actionable business strategies and plans that ensure alignment with short-term and long-term objectives developed in tandem with the CEO
  • Directly oversee operations, HR, and accounting to achieve growth targets over the near term
  • Strategically manage investments and expenses to ensure the company its growth and profit target
  • Monitor performance and prepare weekly, monthly, quarterly and yearly reports detailing needed improvements as well as solutions
  • Maintain and build trusted relationships with managing directors,  key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with the CEO in setting and driving organizational vision, operational strategy, and hiring needs
  • Oversee company operations and employee productivity, building a highly inclusive culture ensuring team members thrive and organizational outcomes are met
  • Ensure effective recruiting, onboarding, professional development, performance management, and retention

Job Requirements

Requirements

  • Applicants must have a bachelor’s degree in any field with at least 8 years of experience 3 of which should be managerial positions
    OR Applicants are holders of advanced degrees (MA, MBA, PhD etc…) with at least 5 years of experience 3 of which should be managerial positions in SMEs or large cooperation.

Additional requirements
1. Adequate knowledge of different functions such as HR, finance and marketing
2. Excellent interpersonal and leadership skills as well as communication and presentation skills
3. Proficient in written and spoken English
4. Experience cooperating and effectively communicating with other collaborators (companies, NGOs etc…)
5. Able to make frequent travels (both domestic and international)
6. Basic computer skills (Microsoft office)
