Wako Gutu Foundation Recruitment 2018

Wako Gutu Foundation is  non- governmental development organization established with overall objective of promoting inclusion of pastoral and agro-pastoral communities in the development process and ensuring that the pastoral and agro pastoral communities are sufficiently benefiting from the development gains realized in the country.   The Foundation was established by the community leaders in the lowland areas of Bale zone in memory of General Waqo Gutu, a person who witnessed a lifetime commitment for promoting social and economic welfare of pastoral communities in Ethiopia. It has been registered as resident charity organization by Federal Charities and Societies Agency bearing a registration number 0457. Its registration has been renewed in February 2016 for three consecutive years by the same authority.

Currently, WGF is looking for Agricultural Extension Officer as per the detail below:-

Vacant post: Driver

Category: Operation and Finance

Location: Addis Ababa, Ethiopia  

Employment Type: One year contract period with possibility of extension

Number of employee: One

Salary: Scale

Post holder’s roles and Responsibilities

Roles: The main roles of the Driver is operate project vehicles safely, to ensure that project vehicles are maintained in good operating condition at all times and observe project driving and transport policies and procedures. Driver also support various administrative tasks including support for training/workshop logistics and distribution office/training materials and light office tasks.

Specific Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Ensures that project vehicles are operated according to WGF policies and procedures
  • Perform daily safety and maintenance check and clean the vehicle as required.
  • Perform minor preventative maintenance and repairs.
  • Ensure that vehicle maintenance is done according to the schedule.
  • Work with Logistics officer on vehicles assignment
  • Make sure log sheets are submitted on time
  • Provide location whereabouts routinely to logistics and procurement officer.
  • Report any road accident or incident to the immediate supervisor
  • Support for administrative duties including training participant registration, per-diem payment, arrangement of training/workshop hall, distribution of training materials
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Job Requirements

Job Requirements

  • Completion of secondary school is required
  • Must possess a valid 3rd grade and above driving license from the Road and Transportation Authority
  • Certificate of completion of defensive driving training an advantage


Skills and Experience

  • Must have adequate theoretical and practical knowledge of driving
  • Minimum of five years relevant work experience ideally with field experience in the area of Pastoralist and Agro-pastoralist
  • Flexible, mature, responsible
  • Ability to work independently
  • Fluent in Afan Oromo and Amharic and relevant local language. Some proficiency in English an advantage
