HELVETAS Swiss Intercooperation Ethiopia is a registered charity operating in the working areas of Rural Infrastructure, Natural Resources Management, Support to Civil Society Organizations and Local Government, Skill Development and Education, and Emergency Responses. See also www.helvetas.org. HELVETAS Ethiopia is presently looking for motivated and competent professionals for the following 2 positions for a project entitled “UP-Women – Unleashing the Potential of Young Women” in Sidama regional state.

 

The UP Women project aims to contributing to bridging the gap young women/girls face to enter in strong career paths through improved opportunities for skills training through Integrated Functional Adult Literacy (IFAL) and short term skills training in market demanded, non-traditional skills and subsequently find (self-)employment with a decent income and in women-friendly training and working environments. This will be achieved through a combination of Integrated Functional Adult  Literacy (IFAL), Sexual and Reproductive Health (SRH) knowledge, access and services, life skills and vocational skills training, and job placement (JP) schemes, that ultimately results in a gainful income, contribute to gender transformation and dignity for young women. The project would work both with public and private training providers with a results based financing (RBF) approach and would also contribute to developing their capacities.

Main tasks:

 

Provide administrative and financial management services to the project; keep the required books of accounts for proper financial management; manage the accounting software to generate accurate and timely reports on budget and spending; ensure compliance to the policies and procedures enshrined in the Financial Manual including procurement procedures for services and goods; ensure the correct application of financial tools and procedures as required by the donor agency; ensure adequate and timely communication with on financial matters; prepare timely budget utilization reports and variance analysis; Coordinate and manage pooled vehicles management system; ensure proper functioning of administrative assets and systems; and vehicles feel management system; and adherence to local safety and security plan/protocol.

Reporting:

 

  • The position holder would be reporting to Head of Finance and Administration based in Addis Ababa and would have working relationships with the PM, POs and Other project staff based in the Sidama region.

Contract duration:

  • For the project duration of the project (from January 2021 to December  2025)

Job Requirements

Qualification, Experience, and Skills:

 

  • A minimum of BA degree in accounting; experience in working with international NGO and donor agencies at financial/administration supervisor role; computer literate; experience and skill in working with accounting software programs; knowledge of Amharic and English (written and spoken); knowledge of Sidamigna is a plus, ability to communicate effectively; work towards deadlines; excellent ability of team work; and high levels of integrity and confidentiality. Commitment to gender equality, social equity and non-discrimination is a requirement for the post.
  • Please note. This is a hands-on post. The applicant will be expected to develop, Implement and ensure implementation of the work themselves.
