The Ethiopian Agricultural Transformation Agency (ATA) is a strategy and delivery oriented government agency created to help accelerate the growth and transformation of the country’s agriculture sector. The ATA envisions that, by 2025, smallholder farmers are commercialized with greater incomes, inclusiveness, resilience and sustainability, contributing to Ethiopia’s achievement of middle-income country status.

The agency focuses on two primary national approaches to catalyze agricultural transformation. First, we support the Ministry of Agriculture and Livestock Resources (MoALR), its affiliate institutions, and other partners to identify and address systemic bottlenecks within an Agricultural Transformation Agenda. Second, we support Regional Governments to accelerate development of high-priority commodity value chains in clearly defined geographic clusters, through the Agricultural Commercialization Clusters (ACC) Initiative.

Our major activities include conducting strategic and analytical studies, providing technical implementation support, coordinating platforms to better integrate partners and projects, and designing and directly leading a number of implementation projects. Our headquarters are in Addis Ababa, and we have regional offices in Amhara, Oromia, SNNP, and Tigray regional offices, allowing us to work closely with a wide range of public, private and development sector partners across the country.

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Power BI Engineer will be responsible for supporting customers to help make their Power BI implementations successful. The Power BI Engineer work across all aspects of Power BI, from supporting licensing discussions, training customers, to developing Power BI reports and dashboards. S/he also be responsible for redesigning, building and refining dashboards / scorecards based on business needs and new predictive models using Power BI, Present data using pre-built templates in Power BI as well as newly created ones and Create and execute training plan on how to use Power BI as an analytics and insight tool to benefit teams to make better business decisions based on insights

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

• Help customers plan their Power BI implementations. For example, identify whether reports will be deployed to the Power BI service or Power BI Report Server and whether Power BI Premium/ pro are a good fit for the customer.
• Provide overview presentations and demonstrations for customers considering Power BI
• Develop proofs of concept using Power BI using customer data or similar industry data
• Provide customer training and mentoring on Power BI
• Provide implementation assistance in areas such as provisioning Power BI and installing Power BI gateway
• Provide guidance on Power BI enterprise implementation best practices
• Maintain knowledge of Power BI updates and new features, and other Microsoft BI initiatives
• Deep knowledge of Power BI Desktop, Power BI Service, Power BI Enterprise Gateway and Power BI Mobile
• Strong knowledge of Power BI data querying and modeling capabilities, such as creation of calculated columns, measures, and relationships
• Knowledge of data visualization techniques such as conditional formatting, and use of drilldown and drill through.
• Understanding of Power BI app workspaces and apps
• Understanding of Power BI security capabilities, including row-level security
• Strong verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to present to a group of people including executives
• Knowledge of SQL Server and Azure SQL
• Knowledge of SSAS and SSIS
• Experience with Power BI Report Server and SSRS
• Experience in a consulting or Power BI sales support role
• Enterprise BI implementation experience with Power BI or other BI tools

• BS or MS in Comp. Science, Engineering, Physics, Math, Statistics, or related fields

• 6 years for Msc or 8 Yrs for BA/BSC with data mining, data analytics or the relevant analytics experience required

• Microsoft Analyzing and Visualizing Data with Power BI certification 70-778 and/or edX DAT207

• Experience working with QlikView, Qlik Sense, Looker, Power BI, Einstein or similar BI reporting tools

• Independent problem-solving skills and statistical analysis techniques
• Expertise in database modeling and data warehousing principles with a working knowledge of SQL, MySQL, Big Data
