Position Title: Post Security Technician
Opening Period: December 5, 2018 December 22, 2018
Duration Appointment: Indefinite subject to successful completion of probationary period.
Summary:
The U.S. Mission in Malawi is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Post Security Technician.
The work schedule for this position is Full Time: 40 hours a week.
Start date: Candidate must be able to begin working within a reasonable period of time (4 weeks) of receipt of agency authorization and/or clearances/certifications or their candidacy may end.
Supervisory Position: Yes
Duties:
Conducts inspection, installation, maintenance and repair of all security and life-safety equipment at post.
Oversees the physical security infrastructure of six separate diplomatic facilities and over 70 standalone residences.
Assesses security systems operating status and recommends changes in maintenance schedules and techniques to enhance operational effectiveness.
Coordinates directly with the regional Engineering Security Office in Dar es Salaam for additional support as necessary.
Qualifications and Evaluations:
EDUCATION: Completion of secondary school is required.
EXPERIENCE: Two years of technical experience in major repairs and installation of electronics, electrical, electromechanical and heavy-duty mechanical equipment is required.
JOB KNOWLEDGE: Comprehensive understanding of facilities electrical systems, familiarization with power flow and diagrams, understand routine security devices operations and configurations. Familiarity with the same for the Missions other five locations. Applied knowledge of configurations, installations, maintenance, be able to follow and understand blue-prints, flow-charts, schematic diagrams and technical specifications of sensitive equipment at all mission locations.
LANGUAGE: Level Ill English (good working knowledge, speaking reading and writing) is required.
SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Valid Malawian drivers license Class BE is required.
Ability to install, maintain, and repair electronic, hydraulic, pneumatic, and mechanical equipment. Ability to use the Microsoft Office suite (Outlook, Word, Excel).
Ability to handle cash is required.
Must have ability to utilize electronic testing equipment.
Must have ability to read blueprints and schematic diagrams of electrical/mechanical equipment.
