Medicins Sans Frontiers – Holland Jobs Vacancies 2018

Defining, coordinating and monitoring the research related activities under his/her responsibility according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the delivery of quality research results contributing to improve the health condition of the target population

Accountabilities

Coordinating, assessing and supervising the proper functioning of the research related clinical study tasks and general field research activities (xxx ), according to MSF protocols, standards and procedures in order to ensure the quality and continuity of research and care for the target population.
Participating in the definition of annual planning and budget for the research project.
Supervising and ensuring that all research objectives under his/her responsibility are achieved, reporting to the PMR in case of any problems arising in relation to the research activities.
Responsible for all procedures related to study participant recruitment and follow-up and the correct handling of related study activities and documentation (individual card filling, registers, paper exit, discharge, transfers …) according to MSF procedures.
Ensuring an efficient pharmacy management. In coordination with the project biomedical service supervising the appropriate use of medical devices and anticipating future needs for research activities.
Coordinating and monitoring the daily working plan of the study team under his/her responsibility (absent personnel, vacations, tracking leaves )
Planning and supervising, in close coordination with the HR department, the associated processes (recruitment, training, performance evaluation, development and internal communication) of the staff under his/her responsibility in order to improve staff capabilities and to ensure both the sizing and the amount of knowledge required
Participating in the monthly reports according to guidelines (i.e. SitReps, medical statistical reports, etc.).

MSF Section/Context Specific Accountabilities

Context

MSF project in Abdurafi concentrates its activities on treatment for snakebite patients and uncomplicated and complicated cases of Kala Azar (+HIV/TB) through free diagnosis, treatment/stabilisation or transfer to Gondar and other IPD related emergency conditions. In addition MSF conducts clinical research with the intention to improve the treatment of snake bites and treatment of Kala Azar. With an office in Bahir Dar, MSF has a health surveillance capacity of emergency and outbreaks, advocating for appeals to promote appropriate response in Amhara region.

Job Requirements

Education

• Essential, medical or nursing related diploma. Desirable specialization or training in tropical diseases

• Desirable degree (or masters) in Epidemiology or Public Health with extensive training in statistics and epidemiology

Experience

• Essential working experience of at least two years in nursing activities related jobs

• Desirable working experience with MSF or other NGOs

• Desirable working experience in developing countries

Languages

Mission working language essential, local language desirable

Knowledge

Essential computer literacy (word, excel, internet)
